Biography

After earning his doctorate in 1994, Bulent has held academic appointments in several countries including New Zealand (Lincoln University), Australia (University of Melbourne), Canada (Brock University), the United Kingdom (King’s College London and Leeds University Business School), and Turkey (Kadir Has University and Ozyegin University). He joined Illinois State University in July 2025.

During his time at Brock University, he was honored with the Brock Chancellor’s Chair for Research Excellence. He has also held numerous leadership roles, including Department Chair and Founding Dean at Kadir Has University, as well as Department Chair at Leeds University Business School.

Bulent has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, such as Strategic Marketing, Business-to-Business Marketing, Marketing Research, and Sales Management. His research has been published in top-tier journals, including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Retailing, and the International Journal of Research in Marketing.

He remains deeply engaged in the academic community, currently serving as an Area Editor for the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Research. He is also a member of the editorial review boards for several leading journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Industrial Marketing Management, and the Journal of Product Innovation Management.

Selling and Sales Force Management, Frontline Service Employee–Customer Interface, Strategy and Market–Focused Management, and Multilevel Research Methods and Modeling.
